Application filled in English or French

Hi,

I filled my application in French. I was just wondering if it could take longer processing times if the application is in French because there are less Visa officers that speak the language. I say and ask this because I have the same timeline as others and they have already received their visa and they sent their applications in English. I guess the local people speak Spanish-English easier....

or am I just being paranoid....

It can work both sides... every time I call a 1-800 I go for the french, maybe there's no many french speaking employees but in the other hand there's less french callers. Usually goes faster. Don't know in this case if it will make a difference.

All Foreign Service Officers have to be bilingual, French and English. Since Francophones are more likely to be bilingual than Anglophones, what this means is that there are proportionately more Francophones in CIC than Anglophones (proportionate to their numbers in the Canadian population as a whole).
The visa officers would be expected to deal with any application, French or English. I know the visa officer who interviewed my husband and me was a Francophone, interviewing us in English, and frankly I think this hurt us - she misunderstood things we said.
So the visa officers at your embassy should have no problem with your application because of the language.

Whether you completed the application in French or English makes no difference to the processing time.  Stop comparing yourself to others.  Each application is treated individually and evaluated on its' own merits.  What happened with the other people you know has absolutely nothing to do with your application.

I spoke with my friend she says that the people in Bogota speak english, spanish and french, the most comun spoken lenguage is english and spanish,,,but they also have some people who speak french not as comun as english and spanish but they do..so you should be fine hermano....se paciente solo un poco mas pronto tendras noticias....

I guess you are right, I should stop comparing to others but it's tempting to do so when we are soooo anxious to be reunited with our loved ones. I'll try to keep the faith and move on!
