Update on CIC: "Applications received toward the overall cap: 53 of 1,000".

Is there any update from December applicants? My app was received around the middle of December, but my money order has not been cashed yet.

How would you know if your "money order is cashed"?

If you used Canada post money order, call 1-800-563-0444 and esquire about the money order status. You should have the serial number, the date it was issued, and the senders name. If you used something else then go to the place where you got the money order and ask for that information. Most of the time they keep track of that kind of information.

Hi I am applying under the PHD-stream category after completion of 2 yrs.

I got letter from my supervisor for Research assistant (RA), such that I am working at 20 hr/week on average.

And I have been working as a Graduate Assistant/Teaching Assistant (GA/TA), I have all contracts and letter from Human resources. Here I am working 10 hrs/week.

If I add these 2 will I meet the 1 year work experience according to NOC code 4012 (GA/RA) or 4122 ...(which is right?).

I recently read another blog as international students we can not work more than 20 hr/week. since RA/GA is not full time employment. So do I need to get a letter from supervisor stating for less hours of work, to meet the cap of 20hrs/week combining GA and RA.

Can anyone advise on this issue?

First, I'm not sure if you can use your RA as work experience, you have to double check that. At least for me the RA money is in form of award/scholarship/fellowship and therefore doesn't count as "employment". This is at least what I was told. Otherwise, Canadian Experience program is much faster than Skilled Worker.

The 20 hr thing, I believe refers to working on work permit when you are student, and I don't think it has any thing to do with your RA/TA work (if they are counted as work!).

congrats to dani2012 and phdapplicant. I have updated the spreadsheet.

The total phd applicant count is now 110.

seems the CC/BD/MO charging time is decreasing... May be an indication that CIC is putting more manpower on this category. What do u think?

Thanks guys Wink
I have just checked CIC's Client Application Status website, but there is nothing there for me yet.
Did you have to wait for a few days to see your online status (after the day they charged your credit card)?
