The series for File numbers was changed in the end of 2010. So if she received an AOR before that, her file # started with B, but now its changed to F. Ask her to log in on ecase with the F number as her file number and fill out the rest of the fields, if she can log in successfully on ecase then the F number is her new file number.

It could very well be the Visa office switching to that system in April, so its possible that your friends file number starts with B and your starts with F.

What is an AOR letter??

AOR stands for "Acknowledgement of Reciept".

Following the approval by CIC, your application kit will be forwarded to your Visa Office for further processing.  When the Visa Section of the Embassy receives your full application from CIC, they create a file for you. An Acknowledgement of Receipt letter (AOR) will be sent by email or by post to your mailing address. The AOR will include your file number, which you should quote on any further correspondence with them on any additional documents you send in support of your application.

What are the normal timelines for an AOR? 10 weeks in Pretoria and we still havne't received one, but we've also had no extra document requests or any other communication. Could they also be waiting for the medical information from Nairobi?

Thanks chrispeach, however, I've never received anything from my VO (Singapore)

CIC approved by send me an email of approval with the client ID, using the client ID I check ecase and found out that CIC typed in the wrong name. So I called CIC to correct it, but the application already forward to VO. I emailed VO and the correct it with a file number (immigration file number). Others any these We did not receive any thing else .... is this bad ?

Malawi - From what I've read in other posts many people don't even recieve the the letters. The info eventually shows up on ecase. But either way, looking at other peoples timelines it 10 weeks does seem too bad yet (from there perspective....as the person waiting it is horrible).

trungngan - was it competely the wrong name? Or just a spelling error? hearing back from the VO takes a while....

It's just a small typo.  KIN instead of KIM

Well that's not so bad...atleast it wasn't a wrong name competely. You did well to take measures to correct the issue right away but I can't see that being a serious problem because all your other documents will have the proper spelling on them and seeing that it is such simple error Im sure they will realize it to be a typo. The VO's usually take more than a month to respond so is just a waiting game...contact them again after a month if you don't hear anything. Good Luck!

I got an update from e-CAS Tracker that my husbands application for perminant residence was received on August 9.

Nothing else. No change in client ID...nothing...

Would this be considered an AOR?

Singapore is very good with email, they response my email in avg about 3 days, my wife got a reply within 5 min (yes, 5 minutes) .... however, this VO is expect to complete app in ....21 months ... I don't understand why
