Anyone with success story of Outland Sponsorship to share experiences?

Is there someone on this forum with actual experience or sound knowledge of spousal sponsorship from abroad? I want to know if it is REALLY possible to sponsor while outside of Canada and then either A)coming to Canada ahead of spouse and waiting for them or B)coming to Canada together with sponsored spouse. In addition, I'm not clear after reading all of your topics of whether a sponsored person can get a Visitor's Visa or Temporary Permit when their sponsorship is being processed?Basically I want to know how I go about minimizing the separation time between my husband and our daughter and myself?

Yes, it REALLY is possible to sponsor a spouse while you're abroad, but it isn't REALLY easy.  You will be required to successfully demonstrate that you will resettle in Canada with him.  It seems, from what I've read, that the evidence that is required of you depends entirely on the discretion of the IO processing the file at the overseas visa office.  So have a strong case in that regard - and put your best foot forward when you submit the application to avoid delays in processing.

Whether or not your husband can accompany you to Canada prior to approval of his PR visa depends on whether he is visa-exempt or not.  Your member name would indicate that maybe your husband is from Thailand, and because citizens of Thailand are required to obtain a visitor visa before they can board transport to Canada, it is not likely he would be able to accompany you to Canada prior to being approved for permanent status.  That's because, in order to get a visitor visa,  he needs to demonstrate that he has significant ties to Thailand, and that he would return there at the end of his authorized stay in Canada.  Having a wife and child who are Canadian citizens is not going to help him convince a Canadian immigration officer that he won't want to stay in Canada permanently - and, in fact, having filed an application for Permanent Residence pretty much confirms that.  Because the IO has no way of knowing whether a PR visa will actually be approved and issued, s/he must deny the request for temporary status.

Wanting to minimize the amount of time you have to be separated is entirely understandable so, assuming you're a Canadian citizen and authorized to do so, you're probably better off staying with him in Thailand while you apply to sponsor him.  You should include evidence that you have made arrangements for housing, employment or school (for you), and that you are severing ties to Thailand in preparation for your return to Canada.  You can also submit letters of support from family and friends in Canada who are willing to testify that they can provide the necessary accomodations and funds for you and your family once you get back to Canada, until you are settled.  Immigration Canada wants to be sure that new immigrants will not have to apply for social assistance once they arrive in the country.

i just received my visa today thank GOD
& below is my time line

March 28 recivied by CIC-M
April 22 approved
June 23, Cairo started processing
August 26th, Requested passport & wedding pics.
September 3rd, submited passport & pics.
September 10th, requested us to pick up passport with visa issued.

yr chance to get a visitor visa after starting the sponsorship is close to nill..
my advice to u thaihubbie  inorder to min yr spons time is to send as much eved as u can, search this forum well & feel free to ask abt anything that is not clear 4 u & start yr reading in cic.gc.ca website

The whole reason for outland vs. inland isn't which one is possible or which one is faster.  The reason is that some people are in different situations when compared to others.  For my case, I met my wife (gf at time) traveling and working abroad last year.  Since she is from a non-visa exempt country the choice was for me to stay with her in Thailand, apply for her PRV (outland application) and continue working.  This allows us to live together and as a bonus, the process is quicker than inland.  Some people are not as lucky as this where they do not have the option.  They may have to return back to Canada due to prior responsibilities so they are separated.  On the otherhand, some people are lucky where they can obtain a TRV from their country, enter Canada and then later apply for PRV (inland) while living/working there.

Here's a spin.

I am a Canadian Citizen, my Chinese fiance was here with her working visa and recenntly returned to China for MBA. I want to move to China to be with her and change a environment to work and live. Knowing I will have to come back to Canada to take care of things, I want her to get her PR so when her working visa expires, she can also come back.

I understand I can sponsor her outland and it's quicker.

Is it possible: once approved PR, enter Canada to pick up PR. Leave Canada and return to Canada after 2 - 3 years. During this time the sponsored is being accompanied by a citizen to fullfill residency obligation.

Q:Will CIC allow a PR card holder to fullfill all of residency obligation time by accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse outside of Canada.


Q:Getting married in China or Canada to become spouse relationship? Difference and advantages for outland application?

The sponsor who lives abroad has to prove he or she will be returning to live in Canada when the foreign spouse gets the PR visa. If you are not planning to live in Canada, they won't issue the visa in the first place.
If you manage to get the PR visa, then you can leave Canada and any time spent accompanying the Canadian spouse counts towards the residency requirements. There have been cases where they did not count time where it seems the Canadian spouse was accompanying the foreigner, though.
Marrying in Canada or China shouldn't make any difference.
