Anyone tried opening HSBC canada account while in your country?

Dear Fellow members,

1.  has anyone tried to open an HSBC canada bank account while in your country particularly from US? How did it go? Is it complicated and how long did it take to do that?

2.  Or has anyone had a local HSBC account in your country and when you arrived in Canada you also opened an HSBC Canada and wire transfer the funds?

Yes, I have opened a HSBC Premier account in my country of residence and later open another one at HSBC Canada.  Free transfer between the accounts but daily limit is about one hundred thousand United States dollars.
