I've been with my boyfriend for over two years now and we've known each other twice that time. We both know that we want to get married (within the next year) and that one of us has to move to be with the other. I'd rather be over there with him since he has managed to secure a nice job with good hours and excellent pay. Would there be problems with us not being married in connection with me getting a visa?

I live in Scotland and I have no clue how to go about applying for a visa. Any help at all would be appreciated as I am totally clueless.
Thankyou!

Read the first post in the first thread at the top of this forum listing.  You can apply before being married as common-law partners, provided you can demonstrate a minimum of one year's cohabitation.  Otherwise, you can wait until you are married and submit as spouses.  But read that first post by Leon before you do anything else. Thanks, guys.
I sent it to my boyfriend so that he could have a little read over it.

Check to see if you are eligible for the IEC program.  http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/experience_canada_experience/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=7

I don't think it's full yet but probably close.
