Heylooo, so my husband convinced me that French is a big YES for better prospects in Canada, besides I was going out of my mind waiting anyways.

Anybody else out there in the middle of learning french or who know french? Would love to converse with them in this new language (it would be gibberish anyway at the moment, but im getting there) Grin

I am trying to learn recently also. I have been on Montreal 6 months now waiting for my PR application to process. I have been using Pimsleur and talking with my girlfriend and her family in French as often as I can. I am not the best at learning languages so it's kind of tough. I am thinking about taking some classes soon!

I took 6 years of French in school, somehow. I remember so little and it wasn't that long ago. I had to start from scratch

I remember a little French, but I disagree with your husband. French is a big thing to have if you live in Quebec, but other than that it isn't necessary. Barely anyone here in Alberta where I live speaks French, aside from those people who move here from Quebec. My Canadian boyfriend doesn't even know French, lol.

Moi aussi et pour moi non plus, mais Google Translate est mon ami  Tongue Malheureusement, le francais au Quebec n'est toujours le meme que celui en France.

French is useless outside of Quebec and some places in the maritimes and Ottawa.

I speak French but I never use it. That may change as I will be working for the feds next year as a public health physician.

If you're in BC, learn Mandarin and Spanish. As a family physician when I see patients, I speak Mandarin often and wish I spoke Spanish.

Hey thanks for the info! I should be going to Ottawa, so I believe it would help. Smiley

Ummm, but I do not have a CSQ and most likely would not be moving to Quebec. Or maybe I missed something on that site?
