Hi,
two months back we moved from Massachusetts to Toronto and rent a Pensky truck - 17ft size (very cheap though). I drove my self about 8 hours drive. It was cool experience in terms of driving. I paid about $290 for truck and gas was extra.
Don't worry its very is to drive, before I was scarring but...if you drive 1 hour, you used get it.

Good luck Buddy

How was crossing at the border, good accompany list and experience at the POE. Is it cheaper to take your stuff yourself or have movers do it? If you don't mind can you please share the details of your experience at the POE

They opened back side of  the truck and asked goods list. They didn't check anything. They said, after 2 minutes...you can go without any problem. Thats all about it. But you should keep ready your goods list.

Cheers!!

The problem is for those who do not have a permanent place to stay. I would like to take my stuff with me but I plan to stay at safehomestay and I do not have any place else to leave my furniture at. Do you guys think that there is any other option?

There r many "Rent-a-Warehouse" options in Canada. Ask Thomas of 'safehomestay.com' & he'd be able to guide u to the nearest one around North York.

Qorax

I was planning to sell my stuff but it seems that we can take all our belongings in U-Haul. This is a great news. Does that mean, we can take our stuff first-time we are entering Canada or we have to come back and take it after we get our PR card.

Please Help Qorax.

Please Help Qorax.

U can bring-in all your stuff on Day-1, later (till any day), in parts, multiple time, or in one go. The choice remains with u, as long as u have 'listed' everything in the GTF (Form B4). That said, I'd avoid bringing-in anything that's 'not precious'. Getting all things we presently have is an excercise in futility. The transportation costs & the botheration doesn't make it worth.

What one should bring-in and what one shouldn't is well described in my 'landing thread'. Pls have a read there.
