Hi there,

I saw a post on here that somebody received a refusal b/c their work experience was self-employed.  Can self-employed work experience count towards work experience when applying as a Federal Skilled Worker?

Self-Employed work experience is work experience, so it should and must be counted.
If your work experience is genuine and you have supporting documents there is no need to worry.

Again lot of things depend on your NOC.
For eg. Some architects may work freelance or some may run a company(self-employed), many doctors will have their own practice, but a freelance/self employed nurse maybe unheard of.

Secondly with freelance work it maybe difficult to prove the number of hours you spend per week on a job.
In case of self employed work you may need much more documents to prove the type of work you do, eg purchase order from clients, client's contact details etc.

In short lot of documentation...

Hi there,

Thank you for your post.  I am a web designer/web developer - Skill Level A NOC 2175

The supporting documentation I am including in my application is:

- original letters from 3 of my largest clients - one of which I have worked 2000+ paid hours for.  The letters contain the time worked, amount paid and a description of my duties which coincide with the description of the NOC 2175 description.

I am also including copies of the stub attached to the cheques I received from that largest client ( the one I have worked 2000 + paid hours for).  As well as notice of assessments for 2009 and 2010, income summary (from my computer software), and proof of business registration.

Do you think this will be sufficient evidence?

Thank you!
