Hi, I am starting this topic for those ppl who are choosing a visa office to process their application other than the visa office of their home country. Kindly share your experience... either we need to fulfil the requirements for both countries or only for the region where we are currently staying and selected the visa office of that country??? How long it will take to process the application??? from pakistan it takes about 21 month to process where as in london it takes only 8months. My qustion is if will send docs through london office and as i am a pakistani national, thn london office will contact to canadian  ofice in pakistan. In this case how Pakistani visa office will habndel the case???either it should be putted in queue or will Handel the case on priority?Huh? Kindly share your experince if some one already have go through this process...Thanks

if u r a UK resident for sure go with the London office...it's faster...they will not resend ur file to Pakistan, it's only the London office which will process...but maybe ur process will take longer than the average 8 months, maybe 10 months, maybe 12; the background/security or other checks will take longer since they will b done from UK to Pakistan

i think it's better to send documents requested by both regions as much as possible...except the medical receipt and the police certificates i would send only notarized copies....i would never send originals of school degrees, birth certificate, etc since i don't trust how they handle them: they could be lost by mail, by the embassy itsself or never returned unless requested

actually the applicant can choose between the home and the residential country, they don't ask u anything; u will just need to say clearly where u want to be processed; if it's the residential country u need to show clearly that u r a resident there (not illegal, not visitor) and make sure u can still reside there throughout the process

My husband is Nigerian, and we processed through Brazil, as that is where he was living at the time. We only had to fulfill the requirements for Brazil and finished in 7 months (instead of the 22 months that is expected in Accra, Ghana)...

As long as you can show you were legally admitted for at least one year to the country you are currently residing, they will process your application at the visa post.  That does not mean you have been living there for one year.  It means that when you entered that country, you were legally allowed to stay there for at least a year.  Work permits, study permits, etc are the types of things you need to show them to prove this.

Then follow the region specific guide for the visa post where you are being processed.
