Hi Wpc71, I have a similar situation like Okshan819 i have also been given An AOR by the Visa Office. In My AOR they mentioned that i could only contact them after 18 months, if i do not get any instructions from them. I was wondering why that long because it is said on the website that it will take One year for processing.
So at this point i am so confused of the processing time.
My question is is t he processing time counted from the first time you s end application to Nova Scotia or to Visa office?
I have read from other members from this forum, that the embassy gives them AOR sets a date that they can only contact them after that date, but the embassy sends a mail to the applicants , sometimes they do not receive the mail for documents requested maybe for one reson or the other and only receive mails for rejection. So i was thinking if the embassy could always send an e.mail to the applicants after sending any mails to them it could be of help to the applicants.
Thanks Canadaforall.

Canadaforall 18 months is long. As I said the visa office is required to do the eligibility review within 2 weeks after the end of the 120 days. It seems that some visa offices are just doing as they wish. According to official CIC publications, processing time is counted after the eligibility review when your case goes into "in process" status. Therefore, it might take longer than a year in some visa offices.

When does the end of the 120 days start? Is it from the time we applied to Nova Scotia? Am a bit confused. Thank you.

Thank you for the clarification. So, I have a question. Right now my application says that is received by the visa office in Tokyo. When will it change to " in process"? I submitted my application to the visa office in June and got the AOR on August 5th. Then, how long before I can expect to see my status change to " in process"?

The Tokyo visa office has just recently started processing immigration applications. So there is not much information now. I doubt if they have even approved or rejected one case so far! From what I have heard, applications received by them were on hold for a few months without even sending an AOR. It can be due to some preparations maybe! You might expect something by the end of October but no one knows what!

This really is depressing. I really do hope to hear from them by october 30th. This waiting is killling me! You are right though Tokyo recently started reviewing immigration matters and it may take a while for them to get used to this stuff . I wonder if they have so many files to look at though.
I just would like to be able to know if my application will be in process or be rejected. As long as I know one or the other it's an improvement in my file...

Dear wpc71, Thank you for asking ...No, as of yet I still haven't received any correspondence. In fact, as you may already know the deadline of the visa office for contacting me on my file was October 30 but they haven't sent anything yet. Not a rejection letter nor a medical request or any sort.....just wondering why....I am still waiting.......my lawyer said that we should wait for another two weeks but am not sure why. I mean the letter AOR states that i should contact them directly if I haven't heard from them by October 30...........so, what do you think?? Do you think this is a bad sign that the visa office has not sent a correspondence yet?

I have a friend who is in the same boat as you. He has also NOT received any correspondence from Tokyo Office yet. But I guess it is is not something to worry about. They just need some time. He told me he has contacted the office by email but has not received a reply yet. I will let you know if he does.
Don't worry;))
