Linda Solomon is an American Pulitzer prize nominated writer from a wealthy American Family

I quote another passage from her book Why I love Vancouver

For me,a new life had replaced the life I had when those buildings stood.I appreciate Canadian Society every day.I feel at home with Canadian values.I believe there is a democracy worth fighting to maintain in Canada. As an American,I see so much  worth protecting here from the vast tracts of boreal rain fores in the North to the good policies that provide health care to every Canadian. After 9 years in Canadsa, whatever illusions I had that canada was faultless are gone But i am lucky to be here.

Nonetheless,in the years soon walking away from my life in SOHO.I sometimes wonde if I did the right thing. How do you make a stand. What can you do that has impact.I struggle with these questions

In the end,I have no good answers,But i hearken back to one day I stood with other mothers outside our childrens school a few weeks after the disaster,We watched our boys go inside and We imagined then exiting the High school years later. We wondered what the world would bring them and What it would be like in 2020

And I decided to move to Canada

Yes She and I are proud Canadians

WOW BCGuy... thanks for sharing this and the other quote. Very inspirational. I must admit, that even though I'm not in Canada yet, I do indeed get teary-eyed when I hear or sing the Anthem.
I hope to read this whole book one day.
Take care
