Hello,

I have searched through several months and spreadsheets but no one seems to be working with the VO in Ankara. Anyone have any experience with this office? They cover several countries including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. Just wondering how your experience was-especially if you were in one of the countries other than Turkey that are covered by this office. Did that take longer than the average 5 months they post?

Thank you
Kind regards!

really??? I never see anyone from Turkey on here. My husband lives in Istanbul. Well I can't say I haven't met anyone from Turkey on here. But not a lot. I would say the Ankara office is pretty fast. I filed in February, my husband had his interview in June. If everything had gone well, I think it would've been fairly fast. Just be thorough and organized, and if you do get an interview, just be confident!!!!

Hello,

I am glad to hear it was not too slow. Is your husband with you now? Istanbul is great. I will be flying over there in December and we are hoping that will be the half way point to the visa because we have been apart since the end of July. I am sure they will want to interview him but am going to have to arrange a translator.

Can you please tell me how long after the file was transferred did it take for them to start updating the status online? Also, were you able to be in email touch with them? They were great at responding when we applied for a visitor visa (until it was rejected Sad )

Thanks for sharing your experience. It will give me some peace of mind. I am terrified of being rejected and having to start again.

No he's not here. I wish!!! I had to appeal it after a botched interview (my husband was super nervous and
forgot, and didn't learn a few important facts). When my husband had his interview, we asked for it to be
done in Turkish. They provided the translator. They didn't believe my husband married me for any other reason but to come to Canada.
That's awesome that you got a visitor visa, my husband was refused everytime, I think twice. I moved to Turkey to be with my husband after he was refused his PR. I lived there for almost 7 months until the appeal hearing, in Vancouver. I learned the Turkish language better and loved it there Smiley
After I came back to Canada I won my appeal hearing. My husband was present via telephone conference. The appeal hearing lasted over 5 hours. It was awful. But the judge looked at our photo evidence, heard our testimony and believed us.
So happy to hear you get to visit lots. Being apart is soooo hard!!!

Wow. I read over your last posts. What a nightmare for you!!!! I am glad that it is almost over though and the two of you will be together finally.

No, we did NOT get a visitor visa but applied for one before we got married so he could meet my family and get to know Canada a bit before we got married but they REJECTED him. After that, we went ahead with the wedding and now are waiting to hear something from Ankara but it  has only been a few weeks since our papers got there. I hope that visitor visa application does not make things difficult for us.

Do you know how long it took for them to contact you the first time or make a change on the online status? I lived in his country for a year and we met there, dated, and decided to get married. I went to Canada, bought all my wedding stuff, and flew back to get married. He is not from Turkey but that is the VO office we are supposed to use. In December we are meeting in Istanbul for a vacation so I thought maybe we could request an interview while I am there and take a side trip to Ankara. Do they respond to your emails? Which email address did they use?

Thanks a lot!

It seems almost impossible to get visitor visas, especially if they think you are in a relationship with someone from Canada. My husband has not been able to meet my whole family yet, except online. He did meet my mother, who with me flew to turkey. My Mom stayed with us, and my husbands family for 5 weeks. It was nice to be able to have my Mom see what a great family he comes from.
Sometimes they respond to my e-mails. I just used my hotmail address. If he's not Turkey, where is he from?

So is your interview in Paris? My husband had his interview in Ankara, Turkey. I thought it was just the
medical that was processing in Paris. What would they interview you about in Paris? The interview must be
in your home country, right? They probably just want you to be ready for when you get a date for your interview. It shouldn't be too long of a wait. I had about a month for my husband to prepare for his interview. So I would imagine you'll have an interview in December. But I'm sure you'll hear soon, so don't take my word on it.
My application was through Ankara, Turkey. I'm not really sure why my husbands file is in Paris, but apparently they process the medicals for various middle eastern countries in Paris. It seems wayyyyyyyyy
slower than Turkey.

the VO is the Visa Officer. And yes I think they will contact you. Did you get an e-mail or a letter telling you that you would need an interview? Oh there is another woman who I talked to potopato. Her husband had an interview in Tunisia. you should probably ask her some questions. I bet she would be very helpful, if she's not too busy. Message her, and even if she doesn't answer, read over her posts, it will probably really help you.

GCMS are like notes about your case. It is a way for Canada Immigration to keep updated on who you
are and what's going on with your case. I think it includes everything you've given to them. Such as your medical, police clearance, address, date of birth, etc. CAIP notes are about your actual case, like their opinion and stuff. If you have an interview coming up, you might want to get your wife to order this, so you know what they think about you. If you are being called for an interview, they probably have concerns. It's just good to be prepared. I'm sure it will be fine.

I hear ya. Waiting is just getting sooo hard. Today was our 2nd year wedding anniversary. Yesterday I got an e-mail from the one of the MP's assistants. It was a different assistant than I talk to. I had previously written a long sappy letter stating how unfair this whole process was because I phone and e-mail and nobody every answers me from Canada Immigration. Both me and my husband are stressed to the max, because we've been waiting since my appeal hearing in April. In July we found out that we won.
Anyways this new MP assistant e-mails me a letter telling me that she understands how frustrating this situation is, but I needn't get so upset. Bla-bla-bla, if I have any questions, she will direct it to the VO there in Turkey. In the meantime I needed to just wait. It was just very depressing. The other person I normally talk to doesn't mind when I have days when I'm really struggling and I vent a little, but this person just made me feel bad. And it's our wedding anniversary, to boot. I just feel like I have nobody on my side, and nobody can help me.
Everything is finished!!! The medical results are waiting in Paris, and haven't gotten back to Ankara yet. Ankara is waiting for them and nothing can be done until they get to Ankara. Time is going by and he's still not here. It's almost winter Cry
