Hi everyone,
After waiting 15 months and 10 days, my wife applied for a visitor's visa for one month. The site says the processing time is 5 business days, but she found out it's a minimum of 10 and could be up to 20.
The receptionist said they are still not to where they want to be for processing PR apps. My MP's asst. had said near the end of April that the 80% processing time for apps in Amman was 15-17 months (includes the time in Damascus).
I hope for good news for the earliest applicants this month, and for the others in the coming months.

JayJ, I was thinking of applying for a visitor's visa for my wife but didn't think it would be feasible and it might get rejected. Do you suggest I apply for visitor's visa and what kind of issues I might run into. My MP said if I do apply to make sure I note that she is applying with dual-intent(meaning visiting intending permanent residency). My application was received on Feb-21-2012 in Amman. One other question is can I get my application transferred to Ankara, Turkey as its just recently started being processed. Turkey seems to be processing it faster than all these other embassies.

This is my time-line :
-We received your application for permanent residence on April 26, 2011. -We started processing your application on December 12, 2011. -Interview scheduled for December 12, 2011. -Medical results have been received.
Mailing address was updated last week and they contacted my applicant by phone asking his if he still lives in Syria and not gone back to Iraq. The lady kept asking him questions and then thanked him and that is all.

Hi Salhadin, I would say it would be a really low chance of approval, unless you happen to have your own business and make regular trips outside of Canada. I met someone at the Embassy in 2010 whose wife got a visitor's visa in that case. As for transferring your file, unfortunately it's sent to the office responsible for applicants of specific countries, and Amman is responsible for applicants from Iraq, Jordan and Palestine, so it's not possible to have it transferred to quicker embassies. Given the time you applied, I think they would want to have 80% of applications processed in a year or less, so you will hopefully have it easier compared to those of us who applied around the same time in 2011. No harm in applying, but don't get your hopes high at this point.

hi guys so I have recently hard news from a friend that they know someone who has gotten their visa for their spouse from amman visa office within the last weeks. So there is hope and they are working just keep in mind that there aren't a lot of users that are filed in amman visa office on this forum. So just because we are not getting calls or emails for PP request it doesn't meant everyone else isn't as well. Keep your hopes up and inshalla kahir!

Salam everyone,
My husband already had his interview. They asked him questions about when we got married, where and how. They also asked him questions about my direct family. They asked him to redo his medical and sit and wait for a response for the visa. This was about a week ago.
He said they sat him in a room with the interviewer and him where separated by a glass window. It wasn't very comfortable and not bad.
Good luck to everyone!

hi everyone glad to see some activity here thanks for sharing ur thoughts/news even if it's just things u hear around, it still helps full of hope, congrats on ur new medical request, just resend them the scan of green sheet by email; u can also mail it if u want, u will have the scan in case something happens and it's lost (hope not but better b safe) i would not send new police certificate; as others said, just stick to the email and what they ask; they don't ask from everyone to renew it, and usually i think they would ask less from female applicants by the way Amman deals with poor Syrian applicants too good luck for everyone and stay active!!

I sent the following email to Ottawa VO last week: Hello:
The Case Processing Center in Mississauga-Ontario sent me a message on 13, June 2011 indicating that my immigration spousal-sponsorship application was transferred to your office because of the situation in Syria.
Should I send updates to your office? was my file moved to another visa office?
What is the immigration file number of my application? it was never given to me
I got the following reply today: Dear Madam / Sir,
This is in response to your email (see below).
Please note that your file is currently in Amman, Jordon. Please forward your email to: https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=amman Regards,
