dear seniors, - I want to apply for student visa for fall term 2012,
I am male, Palestinian with a Syrian passport, 27 years old, i have Bs in business major marketing, i want to apply for interactive multimedia diploma, (for relevancy of field: I'll state that i own a interactive media company back home and i have over 6 years of experience in this field, business administration was parent's choice), i have relatives in Canada (under the same last name),
my questions: 1: what are my chances? (considering that i have good reasons for other criteria ties at home and others) 2: what is the current condition on Syria's visa office (due the revolt)? 3: if my 1 year choice costs 12000$ (tuition fee only) and my 2 years choice costs 25000$ (tuition fee only) how much do i have to provide in my bank account in both cases? 4: Am i too old to apply for a diploma?

You get old when you cant get a boner till then you are good to go

Hi,
Same here, iam 27 yrs old, have 7+yrs of exp in diverse sectors like call center, game testing, game production, basically into project managment and i hold a bachelors degrees commerce + 1yr PG diploma in Project management. now this idea came to my mind of going for a higher education in canada coz of good future prospects in terms of getting a PR.
Please suggest me a PG course which suites my profile and due probability of getting the VISA
Does my try makes sense ?

Hi, Your try make a sense if you plan it accordingly. Your biggest asset is your work experience so, Take GMAT and score 550+ and apply for MBA. Really, business schools love to see applicants like you with 7 years of work experience.

Thanks Enfield & Zainuddin1989,
Well, to my understanding if iam not wrong, an MBA would definitely cost me close to some $20k odd and i wudnt be able to afford that much. a fee close to some $10k will be in my budget and that too via a bank loan. iam booking the Jan slot for IELTS and plz suggest me for which intake i can apply for ? Can you also suggest me some good courses and colleges that i can think abt keeping my current exp and academics and probability of getting a VISA into picture ? would appreciate your help!
Thanks

Hi, 1. I do not think if it's possible to get in school with CAD 10,000 budget. I am sure it's not possible even for PG Certificate courses in Public schools. 2. In Canada, the price tag of MBA degree starts from CAD 29,000 to CAD 64,000 (excluding living expenses). Refer it; www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/god-is-great-t90400.0.htmlYour situation is something similar to this case. Still three things makes him different; 1. UK stamped Passport, 2. International work experience, 3. IELTS 8.0 This is what we call 'profile'.

Hey, Your profile consists basically of temporary or not-so-stable jobs that do not strongly support your profile. Also the field you are willing to go for is not directly related to either your education or experience. Go for IELTS get a good score and appear for GMAT and go for a University rather than a college. You might get admission into the college but getting a VISA might become a problem.

Thanks for the info, this was indeed helpful
This is what i was looking for, the humber fee structure for project management is around $12k CAD which is affordable and that suits my experience and profile too, given a chance if i opt for this course along with a decent 7 IELTS score, will my chances get stronger to get the visa. Can you plz rate my below queries
1.Are there more chances for me to get the Visa if i apply for a course in my relevant field of exp ? my area of interest is into computing and networking. but iam sure its a blocker as iam a bcom grad and applying for a IT course, kinda risky. can i change it after going there? 2.To my understanding there is one yr PSW option given to the students post completion of the course, what credentials one needs to have to be eligible for a PR ? no of yrs spent, points earned etc. 3.The project management course at Humber is of 1 yr only, Does 1 yr course really help for long term prospects in terms of getting PR or do i need to go for another course ?
I would really appreciate if you can plz clear my above doubts, as it would help me to get a clear picture of where i stand currently
Thanks

No GMAT is required for College diploma. Also it sounds like a Post Secondary Diploma and you are already a graduate this might lead to VISA refusal. There is no age bar for any course at any college or university. Your experience might support your education but the degree will speak otherwise. About the VISA office only local officials will know.

Hi, As I said earlier, MBA degree course is suitable for your profile. However, I can understand your concerns about tuition fees. A 'Project Management course' is a good course but involve risk of visa refusal because it's not clear enough how well establish your are in your field. In cases like yours, the concept of 'level of establishment/family tie' becomes very important. Anyway, you have two options; 1. Take GMAT and apply for MBA (2 year course), and become eligible for a 3 years PGWP. You may find MBA expensive with high tuition but still it's like an investment for whole life. 2. Or, apply for a 'Project Management Course' in Humber and; -apply for a student visa under General category (not SPP). -furnish self ITR's/Form 16 (it's required under General only) -attach one/two work experience letter on an official letter head, mentioning your work as a 'Project Manager'/'Senior Associate'. (Work experience history is required under General only) -also attach self bank statement of the last 24 months (required under General only) -Score high on IELTS, may be 7.5 overall. Rest is your choice.

First of all its never too old to study, that being the point my friend was 29 when he applied for a three year course at Centennial College - Toronto with an engineering degree for an international business course and he got it.
You just need a strong profile.
Hope that helps
