Hi,

Would like to know whether the following options can be alternative to Birth Certificate, for applying for Canadian PR.

1. 10th class certificate having DOB.

2. Obtaining Certificate of Date of Birth from CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA, in Toronto.

No one can confirm for sure, however the second option is more reasonable, I assume it is the actual birth certificate, it doesn't matter whether it comes from inside India or any embassy...am I missing something!

I think you can submit 10th class certificate but that should be accompanying with notorized affidavit by your parents. If you want, I can send you the format of affidavit.

I got response from CHC New Delhi regarding this.......

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.

1.     In lieu of birth certificate you must submit school certificate showing your date of birth clearly.

Guys,

Thanks for the input.

According to attorney of David Cohens Law firm, who's handling my case, 10th class certificate having DOB, would be fine and if needed, one can get Certificate of DOB from Indian Consulate.

Viraj Rao
