you can carry both... no hassles at all.. however as regards operation of portable devices during flight may be restricted during certain times in flight..like take off.. turbulence ..or landing or any other time which the flight crew informs... have a safe flight..

Hi, Your Indian mobile is of no use in Canada. It shall not work in Canada. For how to buy a new mobile with connection, check out one of Rhasan's post. It's very informative.

If you have a world phone (like iphone/galaxy series/blackberry (not sure about bb though)/etc.), you can use it in Canada. Some of the phones (like my friend brought an N82 which was a quad band phone) theoretically should have worked but at the end didn't (his one didn't even work with Fido, which is one of the few GSM brand network with the supported frequency of n82). The network technologies over here are a bit different. Like they all talk about HSPA and LTE instead of 4G and stuffs. So even if the phone is compatible, it might not work. It's north america after all. Everything is the other way round (starting from the switch to driving seat)

Well you can bring your phone and try it with networks like fido/rogers/wind/mobility. They are gsm based networks. Most of the Canada's king operators uses CDMA (bell/virgin/telus). There are three king companies over here for network: 1. Bell (very bad rep for hidden cost). 2. Telus (quite expensive) 3. Rogers (most expensive) Others like virgin (which I use and their service seems to be quite good compared to all the complains I heard regarding other networks) uses Bell's network, fido uses rogers network and so on. And like I said, the theoretical values MIGHT not work but you can always bring your phone and check it

Canada is one of the most expensive counties in the world on at least two fronts: Internet charges and mobile phones/contract. Be warned.
