Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, been active on trackitt for a while but when I googled "lost passport in mail", this forum showed up in most hits. I am in Canada.

So here's the situation, I'm an applicant under CEC, got my PPR last month, sent my passport to Detroit, they decided to send my passport back by regular mail on June 29, 2011. I got very anxious, and asked my buddy in Detroit to send me a letter post from Detroit to see how long it takes. He sent it on Jul 7, I got it today, Jul 14. Still no sign of the passport. Now, I know that I should be more patient, so I'm going to wait 2 more weeks before declaring it lost, but my hopes are low given that the letter post arrived in 7 days.

It would be great if everyone who has ever lost a passport can chime in with their story on this thread, and also I would appreciate any advice from anyone. Also, some questions,

1) How long did you guys wait before declaring the passport as lost?
2) How long did it take get a replacement passport from Indian consulate in Canada?
3) Did Detroit easily agree to reissue visa? What steps did you have to take to get that done?

Really appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Hi There,

I'm in the same boat now, I got email response today from NY office that they sent my passports with Visa Stamps on 22 Sep 2011 via regular mail and I have not received them till now. Any advice on what are the next steps? Should I apply for duplicate passports? I'm lost now.
