if u r old passport has enough time on it , advice u not to change it.
but if  u r mad about to change it , then change it to machine readable and send it with a cover letter explaining the fact. but why u want to take the un necessary hassle. please tell us the reason , so that we can do the same, like u

Please also let me know how to apply for the MRP, like where to go,how much time requires, how much cost involved and will there be any reference of the old passport number in the MRP?

Thanks a lot for providing links so prompt of such fantastic posts of NKSHUMON.

Well, regarding MRP, follow the points below:

1. First, deposit Tk 3000 (For delivery within 1 month) or Tk. 6000 (For delivery within 15 days) in shonali bank (Designated Branches Only)
    You can deposit in Agargaon Branch Collection Booth located inside the Passport Office, Agargaon. or Mohakhali Branch, near "Wireless".
    In the deposit slip, they will write a scroll no. (HAND WRITTEN). you have to provide that in the online application form.
2. Then go to the link http://www.passport.gov.bd/ READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY (SPECIALLY SAVE AND SUBMIT BUTTON RELATED   
    ISSUE) and fill up the form.
3. when you be sure of everything, SUBMIT the application form and you will get a pdf format of filled 
    up application form, though the places to be
    written in Bangla you have to write in by hand.
4. Affix Photographs, have forms and photographs attested and go to Agargaon Passport office within 15 days of submission of the Online application form.
5. They will take photographs, have biometrics done and give you a time to collect your MRP.
6. Upon completion of your passport conversion, they will SMS in your mobile number telling you to
    collect your MRP.

    USUALLY THE TOTAL PROCESS TAKES 21 DAYS IF YOU APPLY FOR ORDINARY DELIVERY (1 MONTH,
    TK 3000/=)

hello nk shumon bhai & others who recently got their mr,have any of you send mr & other document? what is the ecas status?

Medical report will send by DMP hopefully today & others doc will send tomorrow Inshaallah..

2. Will there be any reference of the old passport on my new MRP?

3. Is this a full day's job, as I have heard that there at Passport Office a long que always visible.

No it will not be a problem. You can send your new passport with other doc.

We are in Bangladesh.. So you don't need to be worry as the link for your Medical. Here everything goes normal.
Did you ever test your blood, urine & X-ray here?

1. Is it really necessary to apply for MRP? My passport will expire on Feb 2014. Not necessary for now. However I think if you do now you can send your MRP copy with other doc after receive MR request.

2. Will there be any reference of the old passport on my new MRP? Yes, Old passport no. will be mention on this MRP & you can attach old PP with new one no problem. We have our OLD with New MRP. We have sent MRP copy while sent update doc.

3. Is this a full day's job, as I have heard that there at Passport Office a long que always visible.No. not full day job. You can go early morning & I hope it will take 2hrs mix. Our one took only 30. minutes

My passport will expire in April 2014, on existing passport I have Canadian and USA multiple entry visas but still I wish to get MRP because last month I faced problem at the USA airport with hand written passport, security officer refused my entry then I had to show my USA driving license.
After having new passport I shall send copy of new passports of me and my full family.

Did you all receive request for updated documents before MR? I want to be sure that there are still some one who get MR without any document updated request. For me, no request was made till now.
Ecas is accessible with adress and IP status. Hope for MR in July though

for me -yes they asked me for updated document in january 2012 & got ip with date in april

Yes true... Manual passport are creating problem now a days.
You can attach both passport & keep with you.
