Just wondering if anyone could give me a bit more information about whats needed to immigrate to Alberta under the semi skilled worker section. I have a criminal record which is my only negative but as of november 2011 it is 5 years since my release from prison and I can prove rehabilitation with many references, and can also prove the crime was a lapse of judgement committed when I was 18.

Not all occupations are accepted under the semi-skilled program.   You can see here: http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrating/ainp-eds-semi-skilled-criteria.aspx which occupations are ok as well as other requirements for the program.
