Thanks ingegarcia. One more question, if I remember correctly, either your police certificate from home country or birth-certificate was not in English and you had to translate them.

Did you send anything original other than the FBI clearance? I am getting some conflicting answers whether to send my wife's orginal birth-certificate as it is NOT in English, but we have a notarized translated copy of it, which was done in Chicago. That is the only document that is not in English. Everything else is in English. Thanks.

I just sent my notarized copies and original translations from my birth certificates, the only thing they ask in original is your PCC

so did you guys submit the birth certificate with CIC application ? or did you get a request to submit that with the AOR.

You got to submit notarized copy of the birth cert with the CIC application.

I would add that you should notarize all the documents that are not originals... And if they are not in English then you should provide translation by a certified translator... btw no need to notarize the translations since the certified translator do this...

The lady who translated my wife's birth-certificate has it notarized, but my question is do I send that notarized translated birth-certificate OR just make the photocopy of that notarized translated birth-certificate again and notarized it and send.

If I will have to send the translated notarized copy (not a photocopy of it), then I will not have her translated birth-certifcate when I need it in the future. Does that mean I have to have somebody translate her birth-certificate everytime we need a birth-certificate? That sounds a very expesive way to go.

I feel like I am not understanding what exactly I need to send (a photocopy of the translated copy or the translated copy itself). Thanks.

Nix1:
You will have to make the photocopy of the notarized bc and notarized it (again) and send.  The purpose of the notarized document is to ensure the photocopy is the same as true copy/original.

This way, you keep the original (the translated, notarized copy) and you can send the photocopy every time.

I submitted application to CIC on last week (01-april-2009).Now Should I fax PN status "PN Status Update" (which i faxed after i recieve AINP) by updating "Date application submitted to visa office" field.I was wondering whether submitting application form to buffalo office is same as submitting application to visa office.

Please can you tell me about this

That's up to you... you get a copy of the original document+translations and have it notarized or...
sent the original document with the official translation... In my case because I got several birth certificates I sent one of them translated....

Thanks yrinaldy. I was thinking the same, but I got confused when I read about sending original birth-certifcate and no where it says how they are going to return my original document. I am just going to send a notarized photocopy of the translated birth-certifcate.

I am not sure if a notary public will notarize a document (document in language other than English) that he/she cannot read and understand.

I think you should notarize both.... since the translation is the support of the original document... so if you send both they'll know that one is that translation of the other...
