Hi all,
I have run into a unique situation. When I originally landed as an AINP immigrant (and subsequently returned to the US), I had listed my car in the "Goods to Follow" list with all the details (make, model, VIN etc). Now as I am preparing to permanently move to Canada this coming May, my car has started to act weird with all sorts of mechanical problems. As such, I will have to buy a new car right away. My question is: can I replace my listed car (in the "Goods to Follow" list) with a new car (it might be a brand new or a used one, still looking for one)?
Thanks a bunch.

You will have to pay taxes on the new or used vehicle that you buy other than the ones you had on your goods to follow list.

HI All,
I got visa stamp untill March 2012, I want to finish landing formalities and come back to US..on AVR. I do have I 94 and 797 valid. Two questions
1. If AVR denied, what is requirement for H1 stamping in canada?? or any other way to come back US.
2. Is that more preference in AVR aproval by road over Air??
After reading more forum, I think ppl have problem coming back US.
Please guide..Thanks

Do your research, they say the prices of car in the US is much cheaper than in Canada even if you pay taxes on it. Are you buying in cash? If it's under financing, you may have problems exporting it as the lender may not allow you.

in so many threads and blogs on people using AVR in coming back to US, I have not read any info that they are having problems...everyone was DOING OKAY WITH AVR. So you should be okay. I don't know where you have read on problems using AVR, it maybe a problem if you are applying visa stampiing but other than that you should be okay.

Dear Seniors
From when does the 5 yr period of the PR starts?? Is it from the day you landed or is it from the day you permanently moved to Canada? I got to land by Apr 2011 and have a job in USA till July. Was wondering if its better to wait till the last month and gain another 4 months if applicable

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I are planning to do our landing next week at Windsor tunnel. I have some questions regarding the process.
1. Do we need to provide the good to follow list while doing our landing formalities? We are planning to move to Calgary next June/July so would like to provide the detailed list then.
2. I have a valid h1 stamped but my wife has transferred to H1 from L1 but does not have a valid stamp in the passport except valid I-94. Can we use AVR?
3.I am planning to give my friends address for the time being till we move permanently, is that OK.
Please let me know some details regarding the above, much appreciated.
Regards,
|

Dear Experts, I'm planning to do the landing this week in Calgary from USA. my H1B Visa and my wife's H4 visa are expired but i have valid I-797. Can you pls let me know If there will be any issue while coming back after 2 days using the AVR.
1- Do I need to submit my I-94 copies while departure from USA by flight. I have one expired I-94 (which they give at entering USA) and one approved I-94 which I got after H1B extension.
2- Do I need to cary\ry money in CAD or USD will work there ?
3- will my USA medical insurance be valid in Canada ?
4- after landing there, is there any formalities I Must do ?
5- what documents I need to carry while going to Canada.
6 - what questions may be asked at port of entry(calgary) and what should be the answers.
7- what are the main conditions for Automatic Visa revalidation ?
Anything I missed that must be done ?
Guidance will be appreciated.
Thank You!

I think it's an assessment test/interview to check the level of English for newcomers (its for all grade levels I think, not just 3rd grade). This is also to find out if the child needs ESL for his/her curriculum.
