AINP - Freedom of Movement

Hi,

I am currently working in the US on a H1B and will be applying for a Canadian PR through AINP program. If I apply via AINP, will I be able to relocate to Toronto (or anyother city) or should I stay in Alberta for 5 years?

Also if I decide to go in for an MBA should I apply only to B-Schools in Alberta?

Would really appreciate it if someone can help me out.

One of the forms that Alberta require is IMM 0008 Schedule 4 (http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/pdf/kits/forms/imm0008_4e.pdf) and in that one said:

"...I declare that my family members and I intend to live in the Province that nominated me.."

But is doesn't said anything about 5 years or else

Who told you 5 years?  There is really no time limit but when you apply for AINP, you sign off on that you intend to settle in AB.  This is not legally binding but if they decided to make your life miserable for it, they probably could.  If it was me, I would stay at least for a few months so that I could say that I at least made an attempt to settle here.  Maybe you'll like it here, who knows :)

This is a grey area.  On one hand you are signing your name to that you are planning to live in AB and you know you can't lie to immigration.  On the other hand, Canada has a freedom of movement for PR and citizens so as a PR, you are free to move and work anywhere within Canada.

I have never heard about a province going after a nominee who moved.  That doesn't mean they haven't done it or wont do it in the future.  AB is running a H1B program to get skilled people for AB, not for everybody else.  Then again, AB has a lot of money so maybe they don't really care that much.  Personally I think that if you make an attempt to find a job in AB and you can't get one but you get one in ON, they will not do anything to you.

Thats Hilarous move from Alberta to find a job in Toronto??,In case you are not aware Ontario s economy is losing tens of thousands of jobs and has moved into the"Have Not" Category.Tens of Thousands of Ontario Residents are moving to Alberta looking for jobs.But Yes Alberta will not stop from moving to Toronto.I guess I find that a little amusing

I guess job prospects are much better in Alberta than in Ontario. My friend moved to Calgary from Toronto.
