I have sent my AINP form 10 days back, as I understand its for preassessment to start with and they will send the package of forms later that I need to send to CIC . I have filled in the CIC forms from the website and mailed them too but as suggested did not send any photographs, checks,Police verification etc at this point.

In short to start the process i have sent original AINP form and photo copies of CIC forms for myself and my wife ,all education ,H1B (relevant docs only) and other photocopies.

Please let me know if I had to send any money when we start the process and also photographs were required ?

No fees or photos are required for AINP process. They are required for CIC process.

You can do some research on CIC process in the following websites:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/index.asp

Actually it is not just pre assessment...It is the entire nomination process. Total of 8 months. Next is the CIC process for PR card.

You get file number after 4 months ( pre assessment) and nomination in 4 months after you get the file number. Check processing time in this link.

http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/campaigns/h1b.html

But these may change anytime. We are hoping this to go down beacuse of the recent change in NOC list...since IT is removed from the list there will be less candidates and so the officers will have more time to process pending applications.
