Agent or self applying for PR ?

Hi All,

I have recently join this group and start inquiring about Canada PR. i have two main concerns, can somebody help:

1. can we apply for PR by our self or is it necessary to look or an agent ? if agent is necessary can somebody help me with the right agent ?

2. My spouse is having IT background and having a exp of 7 years, can he be the primary applicant? What would be the usual timeframe based on your experience for receiving a PR from India ?

It is not necessary to get the help of an agent and in fact the agent won't help much. If you read the postings of this forum you can get lot of information about Canada Immigration process. Moreover, the application forms are self explanatory and the guide explains the method of preparing and submitting application. In addition you can ask any questions when ever required in this forum.

What is your qualification and job experience. The chances are dim for for IT person, when you tell your husband has IT backgrounds (??). However you may also able to see here,  what are the requirements for applying for Canada Immigration:

what do you meant by chances are dim i.e time require for PR would be more ? or we wouldn't be able to get the PR. see below link it says although - "computer & information system managers are not listed under NOC, but their are opportunity available or them". Could you be able to throw some light on it.



I am currently working with a pharma company, as per NOC list i can apply under pharmacist category but I believe i need to clear the exam to get myself certified.

Could you please help me with an approximate how much time would be required to get PR ? \

Well IT folks are not in the List and they CANNOT Apply. If they have a Job offer from Canada (not possible, unless someone helps you from Canada), then only IT professional can apply....No other way.

You can apply (Pharmacist) if you have 1 year paid experience and are performing job duties given on the Immi Website, and also can score 67 points. There is no compulsion of having cleared exams prior to applying. You can embark on exams etc once have PR and in Canada. Your qualifications are accepted as they are from your country of origin. CAP Is nearing full (500 Limit), so better hurry,.

Here's what I posted somewhere:

First go to this site and see if your Job is given in the List, if not you are not elligible to apply as Federal Skilled worker. But can only apply if you have a Job offer from Canada:

IF your Job is in the List, then check the below website and see if you have performed 80% of the given duties of that particular Job, enter the code you picked from the above List (that represents your job) and enter in the search:

IF you are elligible, then Download and read this guide:

Then take a Test to see if you make the 67 Points:

This will give you a detailed and clear view of where you stand and what to arrange for.

Entire family (Husband, Wife, Kids) are processed together. Not separately, even IF someone writes that their spouse or kids wont go with him, they have to undergo medicals. So no worries here.

When you will have Medicals, that is that date to keep in mind, its 1 year from the date of your medical. You should land in Canada before that 1 year expires. OR if the visa that is stamped on your (PR) expires, usually its attached to medicals (thats what I hear).

3. after PR by when we can expect citizenship ?

You will have to live in Canada 3 years out of 4 consecutive years, to be able to apply for Citizenship. Further it
MIGHT take 1 year to get Passports etc...Might be early, but, I heard it takes about 1 year.
