Hello all,

My long-time boyfriend and I are extremely thankful for this website because everyone has shared very useful information. Without it we wouldn't even know where to begin.

Quick background on us: My boyfriend and I met online just by chance 7 years ago. He is from PA and I am from Ontario Canada. For the first year we just hit it off and had a connection. It just happened and wasn't expected. Neither of us were looking for a relationship but we are so happy that we found each other. The first couple years my boyfriend would drive up to visit me once a month and stay with my family and I. My boyfriend eventually moved up to Niagara Falls, NY so that we were closer and has been working there and has made a life there by himself. We've been visiting each other twice a week now for roughly 5 years and we are ready to take the next step. We decided that he would be moving to Canada with me since he has no relationship with his side of the family, and I have my entire life in Canada. My family and my friends all love him.

We feel a lot more comfortable with the process now that we have done some research, however, we feel a bit uncomfortable with one aspect. My boyfriend and I have a six year age difference. When we met, I was 15 and he was 21.  Now with us both in our 20's and mentally and financially ready to marry, we just want to make sure that immigration wont have a problem with my age when we first met.

We will do the spousal sponsorship after getting married up here in Canada and we both have clean records and university educations and jobs. Despite our age difference, even when we were younger, he has been accepted into my family from the start.

We appreciate any helpful thoughts on the subject and thank you for reading!  Smiley

Hey,
I dont think you have anything to worry about. I knew my husband pretty much my whole life, but it wasnt until he gave me a job after I finished Uni that we really got to know each other and a relationship began. He is 10 years older than me.
You'll be fine Smiley
Good luck and congratulations on the wedding!

Thanks so much for your input. We really just wanted to make sure that we wouldnt run into any difficulties regarding the age difference. You cant help but be concerned that it would trigger an unwanted and unnecessary interview  Huh  We just want things to go smoothly as they should.  Nobody wants to be away from their loved one any longer than needed after they are married...

You bet...This is no issue to worry at all... Just make sure you guys have all the relevant proofs like his travel records, yours)if any), records of any gift exchanges, your conversation history records to show you guys were in love for long time before you got married and this would be sufficient.

Good Luck...

And wishing you both a successful and happy married (soon) life... Smiley

6 years doesn't look toomuch age difference to me....as u saw on the other thread there are couples with a bigger difference than u...don't worry....explain that in ur answers in the forms, like u did here, show them ur love, ur connection, have plenty of proofs to support that and everything will b ok....also explain why u decided to get married so young Smiley good luck!!!

It seems to me that you will be a happy couple! God bless your marriage! don't worry about the process, as long as your love is genuine, everything will be right in place as you both have planned.

Happy for you Smiley

What a sweet thing to say prayer sword! Love this thread for the love and hope we express for each other - strangers who have never met Smiley Smiley

And to the OP, six years is just the right difference, so immigration would be a breeze. Good luck Smiley
