After issue of imm visa , if i want to delay enerting Canda , then what is the max time that can elapse before i have to enter canada.

The validity of the medical is is one year.You have to enter Canada before that.If the validity of your passport is less than one year the visas will be issued with a validity till the date of your passport.In short your visas will expire on the date your medical validity ends or earlier if your passport expires sooner.

Hi - In case the PR expiry date has been crossed, should we need to apply for the PR from the begining/ scratch? or can we do a medicals once again and extend the PR expiry date?

one more question: Should all the members (dependents) as well need to enter canada before the PR expiry date or only the Prinicipal Applicant has got that restriction?

I mean, if the Prinicpal Applicant alone enters the Port in time and applies for the PR CARD that is more than enough or should all the members in that application need to enter the port in the said time? plz. advice.

if expired; start from scratch - unfortunately not possible to do medicals again!!

dear G. Joseph,

1.  If the Visa expires & u haven't entered, u r back to sq one. U have to start the process all over again. redoing ur meds is not the ans.   -bad, pretty bad... not at all recommended.
2. If for any reason u cannot enter by the visa expiry, u must write to CHC, well before it expires, alongwith all supporting docs that explains ur reasonning. the chances r, CHC might ofer u a favourable recourse.  -it is the best recommended course of action.
3. All family members may not land in one time. the PA must, to complete the PR procedure. others can land later, but again, before the visa expiry date.
4. Yes, the PA's landing is enough to complete the PR Card formalities.

According to the earlier posts, the visa expiration date depends on the validity of the medical (which is 1 year)

What if I completed my medical exam last June 2009; My wife & my child completed theirs this Nov. 2009. Does that mean we will have different visa expiration dates?

Sorry guys, I think you are wrong about having to start from scratch. The official CIC Canadian website states -

"You can only use your examination results in your application for 12 months from when you had the examination. If you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within this time, you will be required to undergo another examination."

It does not say that you have to begin the process again.

"You can only use your examination results in your application for 12 months from when you had the examination. If you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within this time, you will be required to undergo another examination."

It does not say that you have to begin the process again.

I think the phrase "If you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within this time" pertains to cases wherein the visa office has not yet made a decision on an application whether to grant you a permanent residence visa or not.

It doesn't apply to those cases wherein a decision has already been made by the visa office.
