I know to sponsor i need to be making a certain amount to cover basic needs.  I am currently living with my parents, so i am able to travel back and forth to my husband in Jamaica for extended periods of time.  I usually get "seasonal" jobs because employers find it difficult to put up with my frequent travelling.  When my husband gets approved, we will be staying with my parents, until we get on our feet, and are able to start our life together.  What is the minimum amount needed per year to sponsor?

thanks,
Danielle

There is no minimum. You just need to prove you can support him for 3 years - the time of your official undertaking. You can do so by sending in your income information, and a statement from your parents detailing that you don't pay rent, they're helping out til you get on your feet, etc. Write up something that says what you said here about traveling - once you no longer need to travel, you'll be able to get full time work.

It's also a good idea to include information about your spouse's skills/certification/trade, which will show that he is employable.  If he has a professional qualification, provide proof of this; same thing for a trade qualification, or skills acquired.

There is no minimum required income for sponsoring a spouse.  You just need to show how you plan to meet your basic needs (where will you live, etc) and fulfill your responsibility in the agreement to ensure he does not need to rely on social assistance during the untertaking period.

There is a limit if you live in Quebec only.

sorry my mistake i know the changed things this year but last year when i applied for hubby there was a whole section with a table for how much money you needed to make for yourself with a spouse and an amount added on for each child. I thought i had to make this much and was freaking out and called immigration and they said that was for quebec residents only. so sorry again they must have changed that law this year which is great because people can find ways to live on lesser money until established.

I sponsored my Husband 4 years ago from Quebec, and there were no income requirements, and I did not have to submit any proof of income, just proof of residence in quebec.
