Hi,

I am currently in the US and will be moving from US to Canada next year.  I am planning to close my bank accounts here in the US before I move to Canada. However, I am confuse if it is right to close US bank account when I need to bring bank drafts to Canada.

Is having an active US bank account necessary when I am bringing in bank drafts to canada? I am not aware yet of the process but I will consult to my bank soon.  I just want to have a general idea from those who moved from US to canada.

also, is bank draft the safest way to bring money?

Will appreciate any inputs.  thank you.

1. Yes, a bank draft is one of the safest ways to carry your landing funds.
2. No*, closing the US a/c won't change anything - u can yet fetch b/drafts from any bank/travel exch.

Qorax

*The only diff it could make is if u had a "free-of-charge" service with that a/c... else, u'd be required to pay for the draft.
