Address history-US/Canadian Outland

Hi everyone...

I just have a quick question.  I am Canadian living in Ontario. My fiance came up from KY 3 years ago to settle in Buffalo, to be close to me. We are now going to go down to KY to marry and start the PR process. Up till now, my guy travels across the border daily to be with me. He has had a couple apartments in the past three years, but for the last year, he has basically lived with me. He has a great job over in Buffalo, and never has a problem with the Border Patrol. They confirm his work place on occasion and let him cross over to see his girlfriend (me).

After we marry, and get PR,  he plans to continue working in Buffalo. The drive is not long..and the border crossing is not bad.

I have looked over the outland application. I know it requires detailed information about his address history. What do we put down for the last year? He has really had no address in New York. He has a PO Box. His license and such has his last apartment address, which he hasnt lived at for over a year.

He has no family or closer friends who can say he has lived with them for the last year.

Any ideas..or advice is greatly appreciated.

This seems to be one of those situations where the truth can hurt you.  He can't say that he was living with you in Canada because that is illegal.  He can't claim that he was just visiting you for an extended period of time either because he has no place of residence to claim in the States from which to visit.  Hmmmmmm....  If you make up a story of some kind that will be misrepresentation.  Your application would be rejected and you would be restricted from applying again for two years.  So. I suggest that you tell the truth.  However, I further suggest that you consult an excellent immigration attorney for advice on how you might best present the facts of your case to Canadian Immigration.

I know it's a tough situation. Obviously now, he's going to take a cheap apartment and will have that for the next year or so... but still he will have that gap.

I just don't know how deep they will go into his history, verifying addresses and such.

I guess we will have to consult with a lawyer.
