If a friend's address is not acceptable during landing for PR card than are there different ways to provide an address for PR card later ?

Yes, you can call CIC once you have an address.

FSW=federal skilled worker - QSW=Quebec skilled worker
AEO=arranged employment offer - LMO=labour market opinion
CEC=Canadian experience class - PNP=provincial nominee program

Thanks Leon. Can the address for PR be udpated thru the website ? Generally, how long does it normally take for the address to be udpated.

Yes, you can update it through the website.  I don't know how long it takes.

Thanks Leon. Have some followup thoughts ..Appreciate if you could share some info..

Per the website you can change the address only if you are in Canada ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp) . How can we provide PR mailing address is we are in US thru web ?
Does anyone know how long it takes for address to be updated in the system for PR card if its done thru website from outside Canada ?
How do we confirm if the PR card will be mailed to the address ?

I just heard from a person who landed recently that she was given a form to fill out and send or fax to CIC to give them an address to mail the PR card too.

Friend's address is ok.
Don't mention that you are going to stay at friend's address. I rented it for temp from XYZ(friend).

You can always stay with your friend on rent.
