Hi,

I want to raise this issue for those who are planning for higher study just after landing. I think it would be helpful if we complete our academic IELTS before leave our country. Becasue I found almost every university requires academic ielts not GT. So What is ur opinion pls share with us...

Thanks..

Very good topic! I think one should take IELTS-Academic before landing. But I have another question: one should apply for any program before getting the visa because the admission process takes some time. Now if I put forward an application for admission, and in my case, I would like to get a scholarship, would I have to launch the application as an International Student? and what would happen if I get PR later on? would the university consider me an international student then as well or what would be the scenario??
or should one apply for admissions after getting PR??

To seniors, I have one more question that if I get admission in some university other than Canadian (European or other) with scholarship and get canadian PR later on, would my degree be accepted in Canada and on the basis of it, would I land some job in Canada?? This is very important since I have heard that in Canada, they only consider Canadian qualification! Please enlighten! Thanks!

It would be better if you get admission in an educational institute in Canada, that will help. Employers accept foreign degrees but when it comes to job and there is someone with Canadian qualification, the preference will go to that person.

Submit your application as an International Student. and once you get your PR, you can easily transfer it to local student............

If you wanna work/ live in Canada, you need to have Canadian qualification. Even if you study in a top ranked university in Europe.....it is not worth a dime in canada.......I am saying this because My brother (who is PR now) studied in one of the world famous university in Uk, but he says it is so difficult to get a job in canada, because employers do not accept any qualification from outside..........( I am talking generally......may be some fields are better than others)....
My advice!!!!!! wait till your PR.....don't waste your time/ money in Europe ....................

noolan,

1000 Times agreed with you. I saw this with my own eyes in Canada and now being watched by my brother. Even people earning thousands of $ in Australia having a degree from there has no use whatsoever in Canada. Canada only recognises degrees from Canada and USA.

Its a good idea actually to take your IELTS before you land in Canada.
