I am sponsoring my wife from Saudi Arabia through Abu Dhabi office. My online status satets that they started processing my file on December  7th 2010.

1-My wife did not receive AOR from the Canadian embassy yet , is it normal?

2-The processing time is 25 months in Abu Dhabi,Why is it that long compared with other regions?

Thanks so much for having the time answering my questions.

Hi,
Abu Dhabi is another slowest Visa Office. I got my immigration from Abu Dhabi after waiting, waiting and waiting..........!!!.
I understand the main reason is,   because of they deal  high volume of  applicants who are  temporary residents  of Middle East. In such case the background checks/security checks are getting delayed compared to those visa offices who handle the cases of the residents of same country. (Ex: New Delhi).

Anyhow, please see trackitt.com for a comparison study of time lines.

Thank you so much Wilson.
That makes sense, actually my wife is  resident of saudi arabia and not a citizen.

It is wired but my wife just found 2 e-mails from the embassy . they were sent on feb 2.

I have two question please.
1-she was asked whether she will cancel her residence visa but she wants to keep it in order for her to be able to visit her family, will this affect her chances of approval?

2- she was asked to provide notice of assessment of my taxes , is it 2010 ? or 2011 as I did not file this year taxes yet , can I just send her last year document?

Thanks in advanced for taking the time to answer my question.

Hi,
Usually AUH visa office used to ask some of the applicants (if resident in Middle East for employment ) to terminate their job and to get an EXIT only visa before sending the passport for visa stamping.

As your wife's family is in Saudi she can request the visa office allow her to retain her resident visa. It is up the VO to take  a decision.

2. The tax return they are asking is to ensure that you are still a resident of Canada. They don't want to grand visa for your spouse if you are not currently settled in Canada.  You may send the tax return details for the year 2010. If possible you may send Canadian Hydro bills or telephone bills for the month of January and February 2011, which will be a strong evidence for your presence in Canada.
