ABOUT TO APPLY: TIPS PLEASE!!!

Dear Friends,

I'm on the verge of applying for Immigration.I've strictly followed the checklist.I'm not using any attorney for filing my papers.I'm applying under skilled worker regular application and filing my papers at Buffalo.

I would really appreciate if you'll could give your advice and opinion before filing.Kindly let me know if there is anything other than the Checklist that I need to follow.I have gone through the CIC website and tried my level best to meet all the requirements.

It's not a work permit, it's an immigration application.  He doesn't need a sponsor.

AP, here are some suggestions:

1.  Make sure to read and re-read your IMM0008 so that everything is perfect.  Make sure dates are correct, facts are correct, etc.
2.  Cross-check all of your schedule 1 information with all of your personal documents - degrees, certificates, schools, jobs, etc.  Then cross-check that further with your addresses.  This is the place I think most people make a mistake.  Make sure everything makes sense - like if you claimed to be working in Missouri, but recorded your address for that time as Nevada, etc. 
3.  Your schedule 1 history should be recorded month-to-month, with no gaps whatsoever.  Fill-in gaps with "unemployed," or "student," etc.
4.  Make sure to include as much as you can to substantiate your work history (copies of pay stubs, job description, letters from supervisors, etc.)

Keep in mind that the better documented your application is, the less likelihood you will have of needing an interview.  And an interview will add maybe 6 months or more to processing time.

Thank you thaiguy for your tips.I wish to know couple of details like:

1) The pay stubs: Should it be for all the jobs or only for the latest ones?I can give for the previous ones too but should it be month by month basis for 5 yrs of my work ex?Also does all the pay stub need to be notarized?

2)I have my bank statements for past 3-4 months showing my account balance as required per checklist.Do I need to send notarized copies of the past 3-4 months bank statements?

3) There was a question on schedule 3 which says how much funds you have to bring to Canada? I can say something like $18,000 right? or do I need to mention some big amount for better chances cos it is a long process and I will only move in 4-5 yrs probably and today I can't say how much I'll be carrying after couple of yrs.

To your question I'm a mechanical engineer and I do not have a work permit in Canada.I'm working in the US.

Use pay stubs for jobs that will qualify under one of the NOC codes.  You don't need every one, but try to show one or two from when you started working, one or two from the middle, and one or two from the present or whenever you left.  They don't need to be notarized.

Notarizing isn't important if they're originals.

The only thing they care about is that you have the minimum amount for however many people are in your family.  I suggest you just put the minimum.  It won't give you a better chance by saying you have more.
