Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

We are landing end of October and wondered if it was OK to do the transfer of the bulk of our POF to Canada a week before Landing and then take a print out from my online account with me when landing to show IO.

Thanks in advance

If you are able to open an account in Canada, that should be fine. Though someone said that they might ask you to Print a Ministatement from an ATM machine sometimes. So keep the ATM card with you and be sure its working.
BEST OF LUCK...

Thank you, we have an account already in Canada, it is a savings account to which we don't have an ATM card for, so am hoping my online bank statement printed a day before our landing will be accepted.

If I was in your place, I wont risk this. Why not take Bank Draft (in your name), traveller cheques, and cash.
It is the last step, better be safe then sorry. Have read qorax's posts of stories about folks being denied entry. Though off course Canadian Bank Account should be enough, but, online print out can be a bit risky, as the officers at airport MIGHT not be able to verify it, by call etc. I would be nervous to do this.

Rest is your choice Smiley
BEST OF LUCK.

Hi Mhut,

That is exactly what we did. I can't tell you for sure if it's adequate because we were not asked to show POF when we landed.

Bottom line is that if the IO is not satisfied with the online statement, you can always phone the telephone banking and they can hear the balance.

I am sure it will be fine. The rates are currently drifting between 1.61 and 1.63 so it's a good time to buy if you want to get the money transferred. My advice is to look into doing it via a money company rather than with the bank, since you will get a better rate.

Best of luck.
Wayne.

You can transfer a week  or before. But keep the latest print with you.
