I'm from India. I have obtained a MBBS degree from China in April 2012.I want to apply for Student Partner Program (SPP) course in Canada this fall or winter.

Will the Canadian Embassy accept my admissions as I already have a 5 1/2 years bachelors degree.

As per your assumption,  2010 applicant's timeline is 2 years, so then what is for 2011 applicants. Another issue, what does it mean by "DUE DATE" in GCMS?

Dear Quorax,

1-yr.
And the 'due date' is something akin to the 'BFD' of CAIPS, but not entirely the same. It denotes an 'expected date' by which the IO hopes certain actions would be completed on certain tasks.

I filed initial application to CIO on June 20, 2010 and submitted my full documents to LVO in January 2011 and got into in process in April 2012 and received the 6-12 month wait letter so what do you think of my scenario of getting the MR (the time period)
Also will the new MI for January 2013 will effect the applicants who have not reciewed the MR yet.
The above questions are very important and will clear a lot of minds and will really appreciate your response.

Unless u r a "pre-Feb-2008" applicant -- the new rules do not change anything for u.

Here it goes...

Previously there was no "qualifying ability threshold" set by CIC for applying, however it was 'expected' that an applicant would score around Avg Band-6, but was not mandatory as long as s/he met the total 67 points. Though individual assessments were the norm -- but it wasn't judicially stable.

However, with the present changes -- an applicant now must score around Avg Band-7 or above to be 'eligible' for PR processing. This is NOW "mandatory".

Pls. check that gazette notification. They r Initially setting the score at CLB/NCLC 7. Which corresponds to Avg Band-7 if u see the "language grid" below:



Thus, if u NOW don't get "Moderate Level" in ur IELTS (which is: Listening=7band, Reading=6band, Writing=6band, Speaking=6band : Total Avg=7band) ur application is Kaput!

Captain, thanks for your valuable info. i got to know from Ohcanadiana's post that band score 6.5 in Listening is acceptable. which one is correct: 7 or 6.5?

(under the proposed FSWC program)

Given the number of questions on calculating language points, I put together the following tables.   Just look up your IELTS band for each section and add up the FSWC points.

Listening

The FSWC points assume they continue using IELTS and that the 'equivalencies' stay similar based on:

In the proposed FSWC plan:
CLB/NCLC 7: 4 points per ability
CLB/NCLC 8: 5 points per ability
CLB/NCLC 9: 6 points per ability

and that previously (per OP-6):
Basic was given by CLB/NCLC 4 or 5 gave 1 point per ability up to 2 points max
For IELTS test results received on or after November 28, 2008, that was equivalent to:
Listening Reading Writing Speaking
4.5 - 5.0 3.5 - 4.5 4.0 - 5.0 4.0 - 5.0

Moderate was approx. CLB/NCLC 6 or 7 and gave 2 pts per ability
Listening Reading Writing Speaking
