Dear Qorax
We understand MI2 has got a mandatory wait queue of 2 years. Does it mean that MI2 applicants will be through within 2 years or their processing will start after 2 years ?  If the processing starts after 2 years then after how many days/months the MR will come ? In totality how long will it take to get the passport stamped for the MI2 applicants? Regards.....

No, u may not. It only suggests that they have commenced "working" on ur file. However, if ur filing & supporting docs r correct - u've nothing to worry. If it's an "IP" of this year [ie. 2012] - u could expect ur meds or an ADR in 3-5 months.

Qorax

 @  Qorax,

thanks for the prompt response.
one more question if i may. What and what could the visa officer still be interested in.

thanks.

Dear Qorax Sir,

I am a secondary applicant and my wife is primary applicant from CHC New Delhi. I am on H1B visa in the US and we have received our PR visa's.
My passport is expiring in another 2 -3 months and our PR visa's are also the same date as my passport expiry.

Could you please answer couple of questions as I am very tensed -:

1) Can I land in Canada POE just 1 month from my passport expiry with exit POE as US. Would there be any problem wrt my passport expiry at Canada POE ?

2) Is it safe to get my passport renewed and then club both passports together with COPR having old passport # ?

3) Are they any other problems I could be running into because of my passport and visa expiry in another 2 - 3 months between US and Canada ?

Appreciate your reply,

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

1. For 'entering' Canada, as long as ur pps r valid [even if it's one day] u r good. However, for reEntering the US - I wouldn't know - u need to Xcheck from the US immigration. <-I state that b'coz many countries want a few months of pp validity to let one in.

2. I'm aware that "pp revalidation" works [this is an "extension of the pps", which is "stamped" on the expiring one, w/out issuing a new pp booklet]. I had the same while entering Canada - after the PR visa was issued. I also heard/researched that the stamped pp while being "stapled" to a new booklet is acceptable... but I do not have an authentic info on the same - neither did I find anyone doing so successfully... so, I can't sanguinely opine on it.

GOOD NEWS FOR 2008 APPLICANTS
Canada will continue to process Federal Skilled Worker visa backlog

Earlier this year Canadian immigration announced their plans to stop the processing of Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) visa applications submitted before 27 February 2008 and reject these applications in order to reduce the backlog of visa applications. However, more recently, the immigration department has reportedly instructed its visa officers not to return the applications and continue processing the visas.

As part of Canadian immigration's plan to reduce the backlog of visa applications, the Canadian government announced in March they would be rejecting almost 300,000 Canadian visa applications made before 27 February 2008. Their applications were to be returned and $130 million worth of fees refunded to enable Canadian immigration to reduce the massive backlog they say has been standing in the way of major reform to the immigration system.

At least for now, plans to reject and return the backlog of visa applications will be halted until the Canadian government announces further instructions on how to proceed. The government has already directed Canada embassies not to return the applications and the processing fee and continue processing the applications.

Traditionally, Canada has had a first-in first-out system meaning that visa applicants wait in a queue to have their visa applications processed. Therefore, the decision to reject all of the applications in the backlog received before 27 February 2008 has proved detrimental to applicants who have been waiting for years for their applications to be processed.

Other Canadian immigration options that may be worth considering include the Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW) program or one of the Provincial Nominee programs.

-2008 Apps filed: 4-yrs. wait queue.
-2009 Apps filed: 3-yrs. wait queue.
-2010 Apps filed: 2-yrs. wait queue.
-2011 Apps filed: 1-yr. wait queue.

For all practical purposes this (2012) is the deciding yr. for most applicants!
