Dear Qorax,

I would like to know if the mobile service providers in Canada provide the handsets too? Is it a must to take it from them or can we buy our own and take it with us? Also, please tell me which is the cheapest service provider for internet and mobile in BC ( Vancouver)

PER received on 20 Sep 2011

Regds

1. There's no need to purchase a handset from the network provider. Most overseas devices [modern ones] would work here as well. Just remember that North America [incl Canada] works on 850 MHz and 1900 MHz GSM bands [check ur device, most would have that].

2. Yes, if u plan to use the AWS networks [WIND & Mobilicity, T-Mobile in the US] u may require a device which works on 1700 MHz [many don't], thus u may need to purchase a new one, either from the provider [not mandatory] or from anywhere else. Remember, for the AWS providers, if u buy a device from them - u get their SIM card for free, else they charge $10 for the SIMs.

3. As reg. cellphone/internet in Vancouver, pls see below:

1. Cellphone: It's always advisable to go with a 'non-contract' provider. That said, as a newcomer we need to also find the cheapest, in that case we have only 2 choices: WINDmobile or Mobilicity. Check their sites.

2. Homephone & Internet: As with cellphones, internet too is a pricey proposition here. Check the link below, that is the best option, as it gives u an International calling homephone & Hi-Speed Internet - both together  @  the "internet only price" of Rogers/Bell.
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cheapest-best-phone-internet-in-canada-t93418.0.html

WIND & Mobilicity r available in Vancouver as well.

-U must deposit ur pps in ur VO [where ur case is being processed, CHC-London for u].
-U may send ur pps from anywhere to ur VO [any nation].
-Ur pps would return back at the address u provided in ur 'returning envelope', which u have send to ur VO with ur pps.
-Sending & receiving pps might be regulated by ur country from where u plan to send them to ur VO [e.g. India, u can't].

Assalamualaikum Dr.Hasib,

I want some help from you please... I am residingin UAE. I want to immigrate to Canada on PR visa. I want to do it on my own with out the use of consultants. I am a Human Resource Executive by profession. In which what category do i fall and what are my job responsibilities? How should i include it in my experience letter?
Also how should i show my proof of funds , as statements?
Regards,
TabrezAhmed.

Hello tabrez,

Let me explain a few regarding the matter:

You will find the occupations' list here who can apply today:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

To study about the Job responsibilities of each NOC, enter here:
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=Human+resource

OR search here: http://www.canadavisa.com/search/results.html?option=com_googlesearch_cse&n=30&Itemid=1051&cx=015316778018308680330%3A4rhn6aayrnw&cof=FORID%3A11&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=NOC&sa=Search&hl=en

To show the RPRF, enter here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Bank statement is commonly used to show RPRF. However, your Provident fund, Shares in security market, other investments etc unencumbered assets can be used to show RPRF. This cannot be borrowed from others, its totally yours or your accompanying dependents.

Hope this has been helpful.
