A curious question

Hi there,
I was applied to CIC in January of this year. My first letter came on 16 March 2010. then, I have sent my documents (Via Immigration Consultant) to Singapore Visa Office in first week of May 2010. My current status is " Received by Visa Office".
Another person, who is my friend (using the same immigration consultant) sent his document last week of May 2010. He applied in April 2010 and received the first letter first week of May 10. Recently, his status is updated on web stating " your application was reviewed. And we started processing your application". Now, i have two questions-
1. Can you pls advise how a person's application received after those of prior applicants is processed earlier than the previous ones?
2. Is there any selection criteria set by visa office to prioritize one application over another?
Pls also note that that person's total point is higher than mine. Is that an issue for prioritizing?
Pls advise, I am eagerly waiting for your responses.
with regards
N

it could be his noc code is different. because after reading many posts i feel, the file numbering done is noc code specific. so his application would be faster because there were fewer applicants in line. in your noc code many more persons may have applied. this is my viewpoint, i may be wrong.
