6 month work permit

Hi, I would like to know how to help a gentleman in Guatemala do the 6 month work program in Canada? How would he find an employer to request his services? I lived in Guatemala for 3 years and heard about this program, but couldn't get information on it.  Many farm workers are sent every year for 6 months to Canada to work in the farming industry or other.  He is an honest, hard-working single father that cannot make ends meet.  He wants to better his life for his children.  Where do I start?
