sorry if this has been asked before, it seems the search function on this site is down...

I am in Canada on a closed work permit, which I knew came with a 6 month window/limit in which I was able to take classes.  I took French classes for 6 months in 2010, and used up that entire period.

my work permit is about to expire, and I applied for a visitor extension.  so I suspect that I am on implied status as a visitor for a while.

my question is, does the 6 month limit "reset" once I get this new visitor's permit?  or am I no longer allowed to take any classes until I get PR?

thank you for your help.  Smiley

As far as I know, there is no 6 month limit per year, it is a 6 month limit per course and the idea is that you would be able to finish the course before your visit status is up.  You are also not allowed to take courses that give college credit.  I think taking French classes would not be a problem at all.
