hello, we submitted our application mar 2005 & after a month we received an acknowledgment receipt. years past... on nov 2008 the canadian embassy manila offered a refund if we are no longer interested to immigrate to canada. we are given 60 days (not sure) to reply. if we do not reply they will process the application.
we do not reply...one year & 7 months have passed & until now we don't have any up dates on our application.
is it okey to call the attention of our visa officer? to a 5 year old application! or we just have to wait.

thanks in advance

The average processing time in Manila for old applications is 66 months, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp#asia so that is 5 and a half years.  Since you are still within the average processing time, if you ask them now, they will probably just tell you to be patient.

I sent my application in Kuala Lumpur and it starts processing since feb 2008.Until now we don't hear anything other than a letter/ acknowledgement of receiving our application. We went to the embassy but were told to be patient. To cut the story short,we applied for Australia PR and we got it!.. Wink but after our first landing and few visits to Perth, we find that the place is too isolated, and almost everywhere we go near parks or beaches we saw signs that warned visitors to be careful of "Snake!!! Shocked Shocked and we had the most horrible experience because we stayed in a a guest house like that has a garage that were filled with cob webs!!and there were spiders hanging everywhere!!Nasty!nasty!
Since we could only stay in Western Australia because we hold WA state sponsor visa..we have no choice but have to live there if we choose Australia to migrate.  Cry Since my kids were terrified of spiders now since the experienced we had on our last visit, I am hoping to get Canada PR.I find Canada climate is better than Australia, just my personal opinion, air is cleaner, beautiful scenery, people are friendlier(very important) and NO SNAKES OR SPIDERS to be worried(another important fact!) In OZ land, a friend of mine taught her children to shake their bike or chairs bfore climbing on it to checked for small very sneaky red back spiders! Aiyayai!!!  Tongue
