It has been four months since my medicals were sent to CIC-London and today I recieved this email response to my inquiry:

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your application for
permanent residence in Canada. Your application is currently
undergoing routine background checks.

At this time we are unable to provide a schedule of assessment for the
application. As soon as any further action is required on your
behalf we will contact you.

Yours sincerely,
Immigration and Medical Services Division High Commission of Canada
38 Grosvenor Street
London W1K 4AA, United Kingdom
Government of Canada

I though background checks were conducted before they asked for the medicals. Does anyone have any experience with this and how long it will now take? Thanks.

Which shouldn't be the case. This causes more and more details.

Even if he stayed in many countries for more than six months, the VOs should conclude their background checks before asking for medicals. We've seen people forced to redo their medicals as they expire while VO stll was conducting background checks. This is time, effort and money consuming.
