Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd pop back for some more advice from the people on here...

So I arrived in Canada in November 2009 with an open work permit from Ireland and have just received a new work permit which will keep me here until late 2012. I was wondering if I can take the steps to apply for Permanent residency yet or is it too early?

The only issue is that I was unable to work from May to October 2011 due to the fact that I had to wait for my status to be restored, so I haven't worked a full 24 months officially. So I'm not sure what is the best option for me, the Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class.

And when should I start to apply for this? Can someone provide some help with this?

Thanks.

If you qualify for the FSW, then why not?

Under CEC you have to complete the two years skilled work experience.

Thanks for your thoughts, I've already emailed the IEC people as I've still only used one 1 year working holiday permit to stay here, when I arrived first. They've changed the laws recently around that, now you can get a 2nd year and it doesn't have to be consecutive, which would prevent a lot of headaches while I'm waiting on PR status.

Waiting to get an answer on that.
