Just rcvd a letter from CNO stating they recvd all my documents and fees and that assessment has started and I need to wait 12 weeks for the mail indicating the result. Yikes, a lot of waiting time again.
Just want to share with you guys. Hope this will somewhat uplift our spirits. There's this weekly newspaper here in Canada delivered to every residences and offices. One announcement got my attention. Its an article for internationally educated nurses. The article indicates that soooooonnnnnn.....requiremnts for us will be lesser and simpler. they decided to push on this because the Baby Boomer Nurses ( or those nurses born after WW2)are all aging and retiring. So, they needed us. I just hope it will take effect real sooooooon.
In reality, hospitals and nursing homes here are running out of nurses. The only problem is, they always would want us professionals to study, study and study. The good thing especially for us nurses is ( especially in Ontario) even after CNO only allows us to take RPN licensure, we still can work in our profession and just then proceed with the bridging program.
So, goodluck guys. For all of us, may God bless us all.

hi maharlika and bubbles,
hubby got lucky to have lots of friends and relatives here to offer him a job. Right now, stay at home mom ako. Im still enjoying days with my kids while waiting for licensure.
I have had few interview calls but after employer knew I am not licensed yet, they dont bother calling for the second time. Mga kids ang nagsusweldo sakin now. hehehe, I have 3 kids at medyo okey ang child tax, hehehe.
Basta guys, umpisahan nyo na ang registration before you leave. I did the same thing, its just that the visa thing was a rush and CNO does it slow.
We are dumb people when we get here. They would not even recognize our education. They want us to study and get diploma here. Hahaha..naakatawa, ung pinsan ko judge sa manila, pagdating dito high school graduate lang ang result ng assessment nya. Mas maswerte tayo nurses, pwede tayo mag work as LPN.

Is a proof of immigration needed to be eligible for CRNM? So does this mean that I should first apply for Permanent visa since most tourist visas are being denied especially for nurses?
Sophianne, When I applied for CRNM registration last year, proof of residence in Canada was not part of the requirement. They just changed in June 2010. Now it is requirement number 5 as listed in the CRNM website. The way I understand it, even people who have TRV in Canada are qualified to apply. BTW, I don't know if I had updated this thread, I was able to secure a visit visa to Canada to take the CRNE. I am leaving this coming Thursday, September 30 to take CRNE in Winnipeg on October 6, 2010. I will stay there for only 10 days. Please pray for me guys... God Bless Us All.
