im an RN too.u submitted uf forms a approx month earlier than mine.sent my forms aug 5, 2009. i called the bank yestreday aug 25, my draft was not yet encashed.are u having plans of having ur credentials assesd by any college in any province?

Thanks for your response. Actually I have already requested assessment package from college of nursing Ontario (CNO) for registration. Since I am planning to stay in Ontario,Toronto. Here's their contact nos in case if you need.

most of my relatives are also in ontario but a friend presently living and working in BC(nurse also) said that alberta got lots of nursing jobs as well.i too have already requested for the package from ontario. so, do you also plan to have credentials assessed in one of their colleges and know whether you are for SEC or be granted a work permit?im from philippines, how bout you?

Hi guys! I am a Registered Nurse too here in Los Angeles.
January 12, 2009   - received letter from CIC-MANILA to submitt full documents
June  16, 2009      - received another letter requiring me to submitt additional documents to continue processing with my
                          my application.
.................        - waiting for medical request and passport request.
I am also planning to settle in Ontario. I requested...again for the third time... assessment packet from the Colleges of Ontario, received reply from them that I will be receiving it after 2 weeks.

Once I get the assessment package, I am planning for credential assessment for registration so that I can work in Ontario. Actually I have already valid US RN license, which I mentioned to CNO but they have difference process for assessment. so I'll have to pass it through CNO's assessment process and get registered. I am from India. btw, what is SEC ?

reydon123 - looks like you are very near to get PR. They have lots of RN opportunities so I am sure you will get your reply soon..

SEC means substantially equivalent competence assessment.internationally educated nurses needs to have credentials assessed in one of the colleges in a particular territory u want to practice nursing.the college will  either tell you to take the SEC(an examination, taken in canada) or grant you a temporary permit for you to work as agraduate nurse untill you are able to take licensure.
i have US license too, its just that EB 3 visa now is unavailable.

OK I got it what is SEC. Actually, that's what the assessment package I was saying have requested from CNO. based on the assessment they will give the decision.

So I am waiting for the assessment package now.

I am too an RN. Waiting for our medical.
I already have my eligibility under CRN Manitoba which will expire April 2010. I hope that we get our Visa prior to the expiration of my eligibility.

I have my eligibility to take the CRN Examination and I am now registered as Graduate Nurse under the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba. I undergone the same process as the rest like assessment of my school documents from IQAS, submitted my IELTS Academic, Working experinece, police clearance etc (pls see their website). It just took 3 months from the time i filed my application.
By the way, i filed my FSW and my application to CRNM at the same time.
I am now waiting for medical request (fsw application) IF i will not have my visa before april 2010, then i plan to apply for tourit visa to take the exam.

         Need help! I ask my employer from my present work to provide me an employment certificate/reference letter with job description but she said doesn't know how to do it. Can anybody send me a sample so she can use it as her reference. He's arabic so it's a little bit difficult to explain it to him what i wanted for him to include in the letter. hi Power,
wen you forawarded ur credentials initially to College of Manitoba, did they told you to sit for the SEC assessment ( an examination taken in Canada) or immediately sit for the licensure exam(also taken in Canada)? Im kinda anxious actually on the possible outcome of my initial assessment after I file it in Ontario College.

what i did with the job description was to check the 38 occupation list at cic website.  details about a particular occupation are all posted there..

They did not subjected me to undergo SEC. After completion of IQAS and the rest of the processing, they issued me the eligibility to take CRN Examination. Correction, i will take the Feb 2010 examination. April 2010 is the expiration of my eligibility.
I heard that Ontario and some provinces usually recommend Internationally Educated Nurses to undergo SEC. We are 4 in our group who applied and filed under Manitoba and we all got our eligibility. We just follow the processing instruction given on their website. Please take note that we all have 10+ years experince as RN. Although we are all NCLEX/CGFNS Passers, CRN Manitoba doeas not recognized those exams.
