Baggage Carts [Trolleys]
 @ Toronto Airport [YYZ]

U all are aware [probably have been reading in all the landing threads] that we need to have small change for getting the Baggage Carts at the Airport. Or can call for a Porter/Handler.

Baggage carts cost $2 each [coins], of which $0.25 is refunded when carts are returned to a dispenser. U have got Two [2] ways to obtain that 'loose change':

1. An *ICE kiosk is conveniently located, just aside the baggage carousel -available to provide currency exchange [including coins] but albeit @ lower exchange rates.

2. A Smarte Carte Ambassador 'vending machine' dispenses small change in the baggage claim area. Look @ the photo here: http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/421028

Is Canada the only country that charges for airport trolley usage? I have never paid for using airporttrolley before.

1.  Sounds like you haven't been to the US
2.  Some airports, such as Vancouver they are free.

I have driven to US via Vancouver before in 1986, 1987 and 1988.
There are trolley attendants at other major international airports
to collect back the trolleys. It's a great inconvenience for travellers
after having travelled 16-20 hours to search for coins to use the trolleys.

greedy airport administrators, carts should be free for all, rather one can find sponsors for these carts in exchange for advertisement space.  Cool

I found that having to pay for trolleys new too. Like if I was new and didnt have the currency of that country n really needed a trolley, i would have been forced to use my credit card just fr 2 dollars.

I'm used to the airport in Narita, Japan and the trolleys are free, big and have those handle locks. But oh well, cant be helped

U may not necessarily use your Cr Card... the ICE Kiosk could exchange your Forex [albeit at reduced rates though].

But, yes that $2 thing is a hassle anyday. However, being gradually implemented in all a/ports around the world. Blame it on recession...
